With a production record of over 100 years the montan wax factory in Völpke ranks among the most well-established wax producers in Europe.
Founded as early as 1900, the subsequent years saw the development of various oxidation and refining processes.
To this very day the crude wax is being transformed into montan waxes that are very similar to the clear natural waxes and are being produced in the form of acid, ester and partly saponified waxes.
At the beginning of the 1970’s the production of chrome tanning agents was established as a new business area.
Ecological aspects, customer service and the optimisation of the cost structure resulted in the commissioning of a plant that recycled spent chrome electrolytes from the galvanizing industry.
In 2002 a flexible production line to produce individual special waxes based on different initial materials became operational.
Consequently, we are now backed by a wide variety of different waxes, polymers and resins to enable us to fulfil specific client requirements.
Due to the greatly expanded production range the company was renamed Völpker Spezialprodukte GmbH in 2008. The company’s range of waxes, tanning agents, chrome-electrolyte recycling products and wax grinding are all marketed under the VÖLPKER® trade name.
